Period Comparisons

Compare traffic KPIs, overlaid trendlines, and top gaining or dropping pages against the previous time window.

Period Comparisons (/analytics/comparisons)

The Comparisons view lets you benchmark your current performance directly against the immediately preceding period of the same length (e.g., Today vs. Yesterday, Last 7 Days vs. Prior 7 Days, or Last 30 Days vs. Prior 30 Days).

1. Period-over-Period KPI Cards

Five comparison cards display the current period’s value, the prior window’s value, and a color-coded percentage delta badge (▲ +X% or ▼ -X%):

Metric Positive (Green) Direction Description
Human Visitors Higher (▲) Verified human visitors in the current window vs. the prior window.
Total Pageviews Higher (▲) Total pageviews in the current window vs. the prior window.
Bounce Rate Lower (▼) Percentage of single-page visits. A decrease in bounce rate is highlighted in green.
Avg Duration Higher (▲) Average active session duration compared to the prior period.
Bot Visitors Lower (▼) Automated crawler and bot sessions. A reduction in bot noise is highlighted in green.

2. Overlaid Trend Comparison Chart

The Trend Comparison chart overlays two aligned time series on the same axis:

  • Solid Emerald Line: Activity during the Current Period (or Today).
  • Dashed Slate Line: Activity during the Previous Period (or Yesterday).
  • Metric Switcher: Use the Visitors / Pageviews toggle in the top-right corner of the chart to switch the comparison between unique human visitors and total pageviews.

3. Top Movers Table (Gainers & Droppers)

The Top Movers table highlights the specific pages driving your traffic shifts between the two periods:

  • Columns: Shows Page Path, Current Views, Prior Views, Net Change (+ or - pageviews), % Shift badge, and Unique Visitors (current vs prior).
  • Quick Filters:
    • All: Every active page ranked by volume and shift.
    • ▲ Gainers: Filter to pages with positive traffic growth.
    • ▼ Droppers: Filter to pages experiencing a decline in views so you can investigate broken links, SEO ranking changes, or expired campaigns.
  • Path Search: Use the Filter path… search box to quickly locate a specific URL or content section.
